Dr. Deborah Brown, Immunologist with the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, studies viral infections. More specifically, her research program attempts to understand how T cells are activated, differentiate into memory and provide protection against viral infections. In this talk, she will discuss the current understanding of immune response to SARS CoV-2. Dr. Brown will introduce the components of the immune system important in fighting viral infections using influenza as an example. She will then go on to discuss SARS CoV-2, its similarities to other coronaviruses, and what we know about the immune response to CoV-2. Finally, she will outline different strategies to produce vaccines against SARS CoV-2 and the current status of clinical trials will be discussed.Webinar will start promptly at 3 p.m. Feel free to join Zoom link at 2:45 p.m. Questions?
